East End Prep partners with Clark Construction

East End Preparatory School, a K-5 charter school housed in East Nashville's Dalewood Middle School, got a boost last week from Clark Construction when Clark project managers built 75 desks for the school's students.

Assisted by East End parents and students, the project managers assembled at downtown's Hall of Fame Park to build the desks and make hand-churned ice cream as an extra treat. Students served as judges for the frozen sweets.

Clark Construction, which serves as the construction management company for the new Music City Center, in conjunction with Bell & Associates, is holding its national project manager conference in Nashville this week for more than 400 managers.

"Our students and staff are really excited to get these desks," said East End School Leader Jim Leckrone. "It's a great help to have the Clark folks take a break in their conference to get this work done -- and needless to say, the kids enjoyed the ice cream."

East End Prep, which commenced operations in fall 2011, is sponsored by the Martha O'Bryan Center. The school's mission is to provide elementary school children with the academic foundation necessary to excel in middle school and beyond, while fully integrating familial and community support to help them achieve their goals.
